Born: June 04, 1971
Best known for his long-time regular role as John Carter on the popular drama series ER, Hollywood-born Noah Wyle grew up in California with his six brothers and sisters. His interest in acting was sparked during his time in junior high school when he participated in a theatre arts program at Northwestern University. He decided to nurture his interest studying with acting teacher Larry Moss.
Wyle started getting his first onscreen credits in the early 90's with a small role on the mini-series Blind Faith, followed by his first film roles in Crooked Hearts (1991), A Few Good Men (1992) and Swing Kids (1993).
His face became a well known across the U.S. and Canada after the release of the 1994, hour-and-a-half-long pilot ER, about the trials and tribulations of doctors and nurses in an Emergency ward. The pilot turned into a hit series where Wyle returned to play Dr. John Truman Carter.
With a gruelling film schedule that could take anywhere up to 80 hours a week, Wyle did make time during the off-season to add a few more feature films to his resume such as Donnie Darko (2001), Enough (2002) and White Oleander (2002).
His most recent credits include roles in films such as An American Affair (2009), The World Made Straight (2015) and Mark Felt: The Man Who Brought Down the White House (2017).
Noah has made a slight shift in his craft, focusing more of his attention on television, starring in and executive producing the TNT sci-fi series Falling Skies (2011-2015), on which he played Tom Mason, a former history professor turned resistance leader in a post-alien invasion world. He also reprised his role as Flynn Carsen in The Librarian franchise with The Librarians (2014-2018), a spinoff series that blended action, history and fantasy.
Most recently, Noah took on a dramatic role in Leverage: Redemption (2021-2022), and starred in the legal drama series The Red Line (2019), playing a teacher grieving the loss of his husband in a racially charged police shooting. These roles reflect his continued commitment to meaningful and socially relevant storytelling on television. His most recent appearance on the big screen was in FEEL (2025), a movie that critics describe as an "avant-garde display of emotions."
Noah divorced his first wife, make-up artist Tracy Warbin, with whom he has two children, in 2010. He married his second wife, actress Sara Wells, in 2014 and they are still together to this day. Their daughter, Frances Harper, was born on June 22, 2015.
Noah has his own theatre company where he works as the artistic producer. The company stages an annual young playwrights' festival and acquired Second Stage Theater in Hollywood, where the company has mounted numerous successful productions. He also enjoys basketball, traveling, photography and, of course, going to the movies.
