Born in New Jersey, Nick Zano had a childhood dream: to be a Navy Seal. However, this changed at the age of 12 when he took a trip to the cinema to see Martin Scorsese’s Goodfellas (1990) and his passion for movies began.
Zano moved to Florida with his family soon after, where he continued his education. He was involved in both the drama and television departments at Wellington High School. Along with his fellow classmates, he produced an off-beat comedy skit show that aired weekly on the school’s television station. While working on the show with his close friends, Zano also wrote, starred in, and directed a series of short films. These student films eventually made their way to the JVC Universal Film Competition, a festival with over 800 local high schools participating. Zano’s shorts were lucky enough to make the festival’s semi-finals three years in a row.
At 23, he moved to Los Angeles, where he began auditioning for various productions. His wit and charm made him a favorite among casting directors who would call him in to read for parts completely opposite to his look. Finally, in 2002, Zano landed his big break, hosting MTV’s Movie House due to his extraordinary knowledge of movies. The following year, he was cast in his most well-known role as Vince on the WB’s What I Like About You, with Amanda Bynes and Jennie Garth. Zano first appeared in the second season and remained on the show until the fourth and final season in 2009. Other television appearances include 7th Heaven, Cougar Town, Melrose Place, 90210, and 2 Broke Girls.
In 2002, Zano made his first feature film debut playing a minor role in Catch Me If You Can (2002) with Leonardo DiCaprio. Since then, Zano has co-starred in films such as My Sexiest Year (2007) with Frankie Muniz and Haylie Duff, Beverly Hills Chihuahua (2008) with Drew Barrymore and George Lopez, The Final Destination (2009) with Krista Allen and Andrew Fiscella and Ten Year (2012) with Channing Tatum and Kate Mara.
Zano, who currently lives in Los Angeles, remains close with his mother and sisters who always support and inspire him.
