NICK OFFERMAN

Date of Birth: June 26, 1970

Former small-town carpenter Nick Offerman began his long and successful career in comedy when he and his University of Illinois classmates founded a Chicago-based theatre company called Defiant Theatre. He went on to participate in numerous other theatre companies in Chicago during the mid-‘90s, where he met fellow comic and future co-star, Amy Poehler.

His first film role was a bit part in the 1997 comedy Going All The Way, in which he appeared alongside Ben Affleck. Since then he’s earned supporting roles in hit films of the late ‘90s and early 2000s such as City of Angels, Treasure Island, Stealing Harvard and Sin City.

He also worked steadily on the small screen with guest appearances on many critically-acclaimed and fan favorite TV shows including Will & Grace, The Practice, 24, Gilmore Girls and NYPD Blue. He became a household name on the small screen when he landed the role of Ron Swanson alongside friend and colleague, Amy Poehler, in Parks and Recreation.

Achieving great success playing his government-hating, meat-loving character Ron Swanson, Offerman suddenly became in demand and landed more prominent roles in feature films. He played opposite Channing Tatum and Jonah Hill in 21 Jump Street before landing the role of DEA Agent Parker in the bilingual comedy, Casi de mi Padre, starring Will Ferrell.

He played a role in the 2013 film Kings of Summer, about a group of friends who decide to practice their independence by building a house in the woods and can be seen alongside Julianne Hough in the comedy Paradise, written by Juno screenwriter, Diablo Cody. Also in 2013, he was seen in the comedy flick We're The Millers (2013) and In A World... (2013). He then starred in Me and Earl and the Dying Girl (2015), Ice Age: Collision Course (2016), Hero (2016), The Founder (2016), and Sing (2016).

His most recent roles are in the films The Hero (2017), The Little Hours (2017) and Nostalgia (2018).

Nick spend part of his youth working as a carpenter and has continued practicing woodworking as a hobby. His talents are often displayed on Parks and Recreation as the work of his character who is also an accomplished woodworker.

Since 2003, Nick has been married to Will & Grace star Megan Mullally. The couple often work together: Nick has guest-starred on Will & Grace and Mullally has a recurring role on Parks and Recreation as one of Ron Swanson’s ex-wives.
