Originally from Georgia and raised in Alabama, Neva Howell honed her acting skills in New York before studying under Stephen Tobolowsky, Lisa Dalton, and Patrick Bristow in Los Angeles. She has since built a diverse career in film and television, often portraying grounded, character-driven roles.

Neva's notable performances include playing the gruff Miss Roberts in Ghosts of the Ozarks (2021), the stern Sister Eleanor in Novitiate (2017), and the concerned Farmer Lady in Diary of a Wimpy Kid: The Long Haul (2017). She also portrayed Martha in Run the Race (2019) and Gina in Burden (2018), which won the Audience Award at Sundance.

In 2025, Neva joined the DC Universe as Martha Kent in James Gunn’s summer blockbuster, Superman (2025), starring David Corenswet as Clark Kent and Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane. She played Superman's mother, Ma Kent, marking a significant addition to the film's ensemble cast.
