Date of Birth: July 11, 1953
Born in Paterson, New Jersey, Sterling was raised in Miami.Inspired by her nightclub comic and dancer dad, Sterling decided to continue the family business of entertainment.
At 13, her father entered her into acting class to perform Shakespeare, which she hated.
She began her career working as an amateur, appearing in local dinner theatre and community theatre productions. Eventually she moved to L.A. in the hopes of increasing her comic talents.
Moving from one improv group to the next, she eventually hooked up with The Groundlings in 1984.
During her years working with the inprov group, she also got to work on her film appearances.
It took her 25 years to be noticed, but her time finally came in 1997 when she landed the role of Frau Farbissina, the diminutive and domineering Germanic cohort of Dr. Evil in the mega-hit comedy, Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery.
Though Sterling continued to play her role in the Austin Powers sequels, she kept working on other projects such as the comedy/horror Idle Hands, Drop Dead Gorgeous (both 1999) and How the Grinch Stole Christmas (2000).
Married to Brian Gadson, Sterling has one son, Max Gadson, and currently lives with her family in Los Angeles.
