Born in Jerusalem, Mili Avital grew up in Tel Aviv, where she began her acting career at only six years of age. At 15, she played the ingenue virgin in Dangerous Liaisons, a stage production mounted by Tel Aviv's Cameri Theater.
She took the award for Best Supporting Actress in 1991 at the Israeli Academy Awards for her screen performance in Over the Ocean and went on for a Best Actress nomination for Groupie.
Moving to the United States in 1991, she continued to attract admirers with her debut in Stargate with James Spader and Dead Man, appearing opposite Johnny Depp.
Mili Avital also appeared opposite Tim Roth in a film that premiered at Robert Redford's prestigious Sundance Film Festival, entitled Animals. For her work in Stargate, she won the 1995 Universe Reader's Choice Award for Best Supporting Actress in a Genre Motion Picture.
She resides in both Los Angeles and New York City with her husband, screenwriter/producer Charles Randolph.
