MICHAEL MCMILLIAN
Date of Birth: October 21, 1978
Growing up in Olathe, Kansas, Michael McMillian was known as the class clown. He showed interest and talent in drawing, but after taking an acting class in fifth grade, he realized he needed an occupation that wasn't solitary, where he could enjoy being the center of attention.
For his senior year of high school, McMillian switched to Interlochen Arts Academy, where he received classical training in theater. He received his BFA in 2002 from the Carnegie-Mellon School of Drama. A showcase during his final year at the school gave him an introduction to various agents and he moved to Los Angeles to begin his career. Within a month, he began getting small roles on TV series such as
Firefly,
8 Simple Rules.for Dating My Teenage Daughter and
Miracles.
McMillian played Greg in the original pilot for the TV sitcom
Luis starring
Luis Guzman, but didn't sign on for the series, instead opting to join the regular cast of the hit show
What I Like About You as
Henry Gibson. The move was a good one, as
Luis wound up being the first new show of the 2003 season to be cancelled.
During his two years on
What I Like About You, McMillian gained a fan base of young girls, and was given the opportunity to star as gay teen Dorian Lagatos in the feature film
Dorian Blues (2004). In 2006, he joined the new TNT series
Saved, playing a young Mormon paramedic and in September of that year, began filming the horror flick
The Hills Have Eyes II (2007).
In his spare time, McMillian, who lives in Los Angeles, enjoys drawing and reading.
