Michael Imperioli is best known as Christopher Moltisanti on the acclaimed HBO series The Sopranos, for which he won an Emmy award as Best Supporting Actor and was nominated for a Golden Globe. In addition to his role as a cast member, he also wrote five episodes of the show.
Imperioli studied acting at New York City's Stella Adler Conservatory. He first came to the public's attention as Spider in Martin Scorsese's Goodfellas. In more than 30 film roles since, he has worked with directors such as Spike Lee on Jungle Fever, Malcolm X, Clockers, Girl 6 and Summer of Sam; the Hughes Brothers on Dead Presidents, and with Peter Jackson on The Lovely Bones.
As a writer, Imperioli has worked for Dimension and penned the screen adaptation of Mario Puzo's Omerta for Miramax. He also wrote and executive-produced Summer of Sam. His film directing debut came in 2009 with his screenplay, The Hungry Ghost. The film was nominated at the Rotterdam Film Festival.
On the stage, Imperioli has not only acted, but produced and directed. Demonstrating a longstanding commitment to the New York City stage, he and his wife Victoria launched Studio Dante, a 70-seat theater focused on presenting and mounting new works. Married since 1995, they have two sons.
