Born in Caracas, Venezuela, María Gabriela de Faría began acting at age four, with early roles in telenovelas like Ser bonita no basta (2005), Túkiti (2006), and Toda una dama (2007- 2008). She first gained widespread fame playing Isabella “Isa” Pasquali on Nickelodeon Latin America's series hit Isa TKM (2008–2010), earning teen idol status and winning a Kids' Choice Award in Mexico.

She continued her Nickelodeon run as Mia Novoa in Grachi (2011–2013) and lead Franky Andrade in Yo soy Franky (2015–2017), solidifying her place as a beloved face of Latin teen TV. Transitioning internationally, she starred in the Colombian film El paseo 2 (2012) and made her English-language debut in Crossing Point (2016). María later appeared as Maria Salazar in Deadly Class (2018–2019) and starred in The Moodys (2019–2021), showcasing her growth into mature roles.

In 2025, María took on a major new challenge in the DC Universe, portraying Angela Spica — a.k.a. The Engineer — in James Gunn's Superman.

Off-screen, she’s been happily married to actor Christian McGaffney since January 2020. A bilingual (Spanish/English) performer, de Faría credits her Venezuelan identity, along with her versatility from teen star to action heroine, for shaping her evolving career.
