Luciane Buchanan was born in Auckland, New Zealand. She began her career by taking acting classes at the Auckland Performing Centre and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Drama and Psychology from the University of Auckland in 2017.
Luciane spent her early career making appearances on New Zealand television. She made her on-screen debut in 2011 in the TV movie Billy where she played the character of Cherie James. She followed that up with a major supporting role on The Blue Rose, appearing in 11 episodes as Aroha Nash.
Luciane booked her first series regular role on the 2016 New Zealand comedy-drama Filthy Rich. She played the role of Kennedy, the younger sister to the protagonist, for 32 episodes across the series' two seasons, which ended in 2017.
She made her American debut in 2021 by appearing in a guest role on Netflix’s fantasy drama series Sweet Tooth. This would eventually lead to Luciane booking her first American lead role when she starred as Rose Larkin, a young cybersecurity entrepreneur in The Night Agent. The series debuted on March 23, 2023 on Netflix, followed by a second season on January 23, 2025. It received positive reviews from critics and Luciane was nominated for Best Actress in an Action Series, Limited Series or Made-for-TV Movie at the Critics' Choice Super Awards.
Also in 2023, Luciane made her feature film debut in The Tank (2023).
