Born: July 02, 1986
Born in New York City, Lindsay Morgan Lohan is the oldest of four children of mother Dina, a former Radio City Rockette and Wall Street analyst who helps manage her daughter's career, and father Michael, a Wall Street trader. Red-headed Lindsay began modeling when she was just three years old. Over the years, she appeared in over 60 commercials, including one for Jell-O with Bill Cosby.
At the age of 10, Lindsay landed a recurring role as Alli Fowler on the long-running soap opera Another World. Early in 1997 she was cast in the big screen remake of the hit Disney movie The Parent Trap (1998), playing both leading roles as twin sisters (originally played by Hayley Mills in the 1961 movie). The film was a box office success and Lindsay won a Young Artist Award for Best Performance by a Leading Young Actress in a Feature Film.
She followed with Disney hits Life-Size (2000), Get a Clue (2002) and Freaky Friday (2003). Lindsay left her turbulent New York home in 2003 to live in Los Angeles. Her mother obtained an order of protection against husband Michael in 2004 and filed for divorce January 2005, after he violated the order.
She subsequently appeared in other major studio successes: Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen (2004), Mean Girls (2004), and Herbie: Fully Loaded (2005). Her later teen work included Georgia Rule (2007) and I Know Who Killed Me (2007). After a break, she returned to the big screen in Machete (2010), Scary Movie 5 (2013), The Canyons (2013), and voice/short roles like InAPPropriate Comedy (2013) and First Point (2012).
By 2006, Lindsay was more famous for her public antics and partying than for her film career. Several of her co-stars slammed her publicly for being late to work and holding up production. Film boss James G. Robinson wrote a letter to the young star that was published by the media, in which he told her off for being "irresponsible and unprofessional" and threatened legal action against her unless she began showing up for work on time on the set of the movie Georgia Rule. She continued to party, however, and by December 2006, began attending Alcoholics Anonymous meetings.
In May 2007, she entered Promises Rehab Center after crashing her car in Beverly Hills. She was arrested for driving under the influence and at the end of June, decided to enter the extended care program, and celebrated her 21st birthday with her mother and siblings in rehab.
In 2008, she made several appearances on the hit show Ugly Betty. On July 6, 2010, with her career at nearly a standstill, Lindsay was sentenced to 90 days in jail for violating her probation by not attending weekly alcohol education classes as set by the court for her 2007 DUI. After serving less than two weeks, followed by another equally short stint in rehab, she promptly returned to partying.
After her less than savory stunt in the entertainment world spotlight she rebooted her career and began with a Netflix two-picture deal: Falling for Christmas (2022), Irish Wish (2024), and Our Little Secret (2024). Each received solid fan response, with Irish Wish topping Netflix charts immediately post-release. In 2025, she starred alongside Jamie Lee Curtis in Disney's eagerly awaited sequel Freakier Friday (2025), reviving her role as Anna Coleman. She also earned the CinemaCon Vanguard Award for her comeback momentum in 2025.
Expanding into drama, Lindsay made her scripted TV debut as producer and lead in Hulu’s thriller series Count My Lies (2025), which is based on the novel by Sophie Stava. She plays Sloane Caraway, a nanny with a compulsion to lie, unraveling deep family secrets under suspenseful circumstances.
Off-screen, Lindsay embraced motherhood and moved to Dubai in 2014, citing the city’s privacy laws as a sanctuary from paparazzi. She and husband Bader Shammas welcomes their son Luai in July of 2023, whom she raises with caution about public exposure due to her own past trauma.
Recently, Lindsay revealed she suffers from "PTSD to the extreme" stemming from relentless early paparazzi scrutiny — an experience that deeply informs her current advocacy for privacy and her approach to parenting.
She is also attached to an upcoming biopic where she’ll portray Ann-Margret — a project approved by the actress herself and championed by longtime friend Jamie Lee Curtis.
