Lexi Venter is a South African child actress who made her feature-film debut in 2024. After she was discovered in a small village community in the South African bush, Lexi landed the lead role of Bobo in the adaptation of Alexandra Fuller’s memoir Don't Let's Go to the Dogs Tonight. She delivered a standout performance as a young girl navigating the final days of the Rhodesian War, earning widespread praise across festival screening because of her emotional maturity and raw presence.
Before the film premiered, Lexi was selected by director and co-star Embeth Davidtz, who spent years working with her on set, to authentically capture the resilience and innocence of a child growing up amid conflict. Her ability to convey both joy and trauma across a tumultuous backdrop has drawn attention from critics and audiences alike. Lexi has since made her debut on the international festival circuit, appearing at Telluride, Toronto and Zurich in 2024.
With Don't Let's Go to the Dogs Tonight acquiring distribution via Sony Pictures Classics and set for its roll-out into theaters to happen in mid-2025, Lexi Venter is emerging as a young talent to watch.
