Born: January 11, 1992
Born in Toronto, Ontario to a family of Brazilian heritage, Laysla De Oliveira started her career as a model at age 14, with acting aspirations. She worked on her dreams of acting throughout high school, attending Rosedale Heights School of the Arts, where she studied drama and dance.
Finally able to pursue acting while in college, Laysla was cast in the film Acquainted (2018) as the lead character Emma. The film follows former classmates who reconnect at a bar and form a romantic bond, both questioning their personal long-term relationships. It premiered at the Whistler Film Festival in British Columbia, Canada.
That same year Laysla starred in the Netflix adaptation of the horror book by Stephen King and Joe Hill, In the Tall Grass (2018), as Becky DeMuth. When a brother and sister search through a field of tall grass to rescue a lost boy, they soon realize something evil is following them.
In 2019 she starred in another Joe Hill adaptation as the villain Dodge on the Netflix series Locke & Key, which enjoyed a three-season run on Netflix.
Starring as the lead character Cruz in the new 2023 Paramount+ show Special Ops: Lioness, Laysla has taken a new direction in her acting by adding action to her talents, while starring alongside Zoe Saldana, Morgan Freeman, Nicole Kidman and Michael Kelly.
Laysla enjoys yoga and meditation in her spare time.
