Born: June 10, 1964
Born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Kate Flannery found immediate success and hasn't looked back. Growing up with a normal life in the suburbs of Pennsylvania, she attended the University of the Arts in Philadelphia, where she started thinking about an acting career.
Starting her career on stage, Kate was a member of The Second City’s National Touring Company. She was an original member of Chicago's Annoyance Theater and appeared in over 15 shows, including The Miss Vagia Pageant and The Real Live Brady Bunch.
Her first onscreen appearance came with the film Can't Stop Dancing (1999), in the role of Tonia. That same year she had a small part in the film Trick (1999) as the Ridiculous Writer. She found her first wave of success with her own cult comedy lounge act The Lampshades, alongside Scot Robinson in 2001 — the show ran all over the United States and was recognized as the "Best Saturday Comedy Show of the Year" by LA Weekly in 2006.
While making guest appearances occasionally on television shows, Kate found immense success when she was cast as Meredith Palmer on The Office, a role she held from 2005 to 2013, when the show concluded. The Office found critical acclaim, winning two Screen Actors Guild Awards for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Comedy Series, with an additional five nominations for the same award.
During her time on The Office, Kate guested on shows such as The Jay Leno Show, Wizards of Waverly Place, The Soup, and more. She also appeared in films such as Danny Roane: First Time Director (2006), You (2009), Love or Whatever (2012), and more.
Since The Office, she has appeared in recurring roles, including providing the voice of Barb Miller in Steven Universe from 2015 to 2018, the voice of Carol in OK K.O.! Let's Be Heroes from 2017 to 2019 and the voice of Georgina in Summer Camp Island from 2019. Kate also competed on Dancing With The Stars in 2019 and lasted nine episodes before getting eliminated.
Kate has continued to appear in films, including, Norma in Helicopter Mom (2014), Principal Miller in Slow Learners (2015), Randy in Golden Arm (2020) and more.
She continues to show her deep love for comedy and acting beyond her onscreen roles — as a teacher at the Los Angeles Drama Club. She teaches children and young adults about Shakespeare, comedy, and acting.
Kate will be in attendance at the 2023 Fan Expo in Toronto alongside her office castmates Brian Baumgartner and Leslie David Baker. She will be speaking on a panel with her castmates, and participating in a personal photo opportunity for fans.
