Born in Los Angeles, California, Justice Elio Smith is best known for his roles in the Netflix series The Get Down and the blockbuster film Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom.
Justice comes from mixed parentage with his father, Wayne Smith, being of African-American descent, while his mother, Duilia Setacci, has a French-Canadian and Italian background. Justice attended the Orange County School of the Arts, graduating in 2013 with a major in acting. During his senior year at Orange County, he was ranked in the top one percent of young artists in the United States by the National Young Arts Foundation, where he received a nomination for the U.S. Presidential Scholar of the Arts.
His first acting credit was a minor role in the crime film Trigger Finger (2012). He would follow that up with his first TV role on the comedy series Miss Guidance in 2014, before landing a recurring role from 2014 to 2015 on the Nickelodeon series The Thundermans as the character Angus.
He would also appear in the HBO documentary series Masterclass and VlogBrothers before landing his first mainstream film role as Marcus “Radar” Lincoln in 20th Century Fox’s Paper Towns (2015).
Justice would get his first starring role as Ezekiel "Books" Figuero in Baz Luhrmann’s musical drama series The Get Down, which ran two seasons from 2016 to 2017. His next film role would be in the romance drama Every Day (2018), playing the character of Justin/A, the boyfriend of lead character Rhiannon.
Also in 2018 he took on the on the role of Franklin Webb, the tech support to Bryce Dallas Howard’s NGO in the blockbuster film sequel, Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom.
Justice Smith can also be seen in his first Hollywood starring role as Tim Goodman in the adventure comedy film Pokémon Detective Pikachu (2019), which marks the live-action Hollywood debut of the popular video game and anime franchise, featuring the voice of Ryan Reynolds as the lead character.
Justice Smith has two siblings, an older sister named Cameo and a younger sister named Angelique.
