Best known for her astounding voice, Andrews was born in Walton-on-Thames, in Surrey, England. By the time she was eight years old, she had a fully formed adult throat and a four-octave range. Her mother and stepfather, both vaudeville performers, immediately got her into a singing career, and she performed in music halls throughout her childhood and teens.
