Born in Vancouver, British Columbia, Joshua Jackson spent the first eight years of his life in California. However, when Vancouver became a popular spot for Hollywood to film movies, he and his mom, a casting director, moved back to their home and native land. Knowing how cruel an acting career could be, his mother, took him to his first audition in hopes of discouraging him. Instead, he landed a commercial for Keebler's potato chips. Following a series of commercials for British Columbia Tourism, he landed the role of Charlie in a stage production of Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory. Next came Crooked Hearts, and then Mighty Ducks.
Originally auditioning for the role of Dawson, Jackson was cast as Pacey in the teen television series Dawson's Creek in 1998. The show became a hit and led to more films: Scream 2, Apt Pupil, Urban Legend, and Cruel Intentions.
Since the show finished filming in 2003, Jackson has continued to work in films such as Bobby (2006). In 2010, he won a Genie Award for Best Leading Actor for his work in One Week, about a young man who goes on a road trip across Canada. Since 2008, he has also played a starring role on the hit TV series Fringe. Jackson is currently dating German actress Diane Kruger.
