Joséphine Jobert was born in Paris, France to Véronique Mucret Rouveyrollis and Charles Jobert. Joséphine comes from a family of artists that span generations.
Her mother, Véronique, was a photographer, musician, writer, actress, and director. Her father, Charles, was a camera operator and director of photography. Joséphine credits her family for teaching her the craft of acting due while growing up in theater, film and television.
At the age of 12, Joséphine and her family moved to Canada, where she continued to hone her acting, singing and dancing skills. It was in Canada where she became fluent in English. At the age of 20, Joséphine moved back to France where she booked her first lead role in Nos années pensions, a series targeted towards youth that combined comedy and music.
Joséphine would continue to work in French television, booking a variety of roles. One of those roles was the lead in a series called Foudre or Summer Crush in English, which aired 131 episodes from 2007-2011. The series would go on to be awarded the best youth series at the TV Fiction Festival of La Rochelle and Joséphine was nominated for best actress at the TV Festival of Monte Carlo, in 2009.
In 2015 Joséphine booked her first English-language role as Detective Sergeant Florence Cassell in the BBC One series Death in Paradise. Joséphine appeared in 54 episodes and was a series regular for seven seasons.
Currently Joséphine stars on the CBC TV series Saint-Pierre as Geneviève "Arch" Archambault alongside Allan Hawco. The police procedural debuted in January 2025.
A fun fact, Joséphine is a cousin of French actress Eva Green.
