Jez Butterworth Overview

A native of London, Butterworth was raised in St. Albans and was educated at Cambridge. Inspired by the works of Preston Sturges, Billy Wilder and I.A.L. Diamond, Butterworth started his career writing for the stage, but always had an eye for film. He landed his first chance in the mid-'90s after writing the feature length screenplay, Mojo.
