Jacob Lofland is a young American actor who has quickly made a name for himself in Hollywood with roles in major movies such as Mud (2012), Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials (2015) and Free State of Jones (2016).
Jacob was born in Briggsville, Arkansas. Of growing up in a small town, the actor told Interview Magazine, "My friends and I would mainly ride around, drive through mud and stuff. Basically just everything you think a country kid does, that's what we did."
He used this rough-and-tumble upbringing to his advantage when he came across a casting notice for Jeff Nichol's 2012 flick Mud. The role, a cycling and boating country kid from Arkansas named Neckbone, was a near-perfect fit for the newcomer. At just 15, Jacob earned the role, starring alongside Matthew McConaughey, Tye Sheridan, Sam Shepard and Reese Witherspoon.
For his work in Mud, Jacob was nominated for a Critic's Choice Award for Best Young Actor and shared a Robert Altman Award for Best Ensemble at the Independent Spirit Awards.
Jacob followed this up with high-profile roles in the drama Little Accidents (2014), the teen sci-fi sequel Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials (2015), and the award-winning FX series Justified.
The rising star once again acted opposite Matthew McConaughey in the 2016 historical biopic Free State of Jones. This was followed by a solo lead role in the thriller North (2016), as well as a part in the action epic Transformers: The Last Knight (2017).
