Jacob Laval was born in Orlando, Florida before moving to New York City in 2012. 

He began his career in 2019 with small appearances on the Syfy series Happy! and on Netflix’s superhero series Jessica Jones starring Krysten Ritter.
The same year, he made his feature-film debut in Team Marco (2019), playing the role of Fred.

In 2020, Jacob appeared in his first major role as Seldon Wishnow on the HBO miniseries The Plot Against America with Winona Ryder and John Turturro. The series was nominated for Best Limited Series at the Critics Choice Awards.

The audition process for the series was a whirlwind. On the way to the audition Jacob and his mother took a taxi but her credit card wouldn’t work, which resulted in them running late. When the callbacks came, they decided to take an Uber, but the driver ended up going the wrong way.

In 2021 Jacob appeared in his second film as Conor Stump in 8-Bit Christmas (2021) starring Neil Patrick Harris.

In 2025, Jacob played the lead role of Austin LeRette in The Unbreakable Boy (2025). Based on a true story, Austin is a young boy with autism and brittle-bone disease who still has a joyous outlook on life.

In addition to acting, Jacob also loves sports, specifically baseball and college football. He is a diehard video game, Harry Potter and Disney fan.
