British actress Isobelle Molloy rose to fame when she landed the role of Amanda in the original London production of Matilda: The Musical at the Cambridge Theatre, then was promoted to the title role in April 2012. Despite her young age, that wasn't her first time on stage. She'd already made her London stage debut in a 2010 revival of Oliver! at the Theatre Royal Drury Lane.
Isobelle trained in performing arts at Tomorrow's Talent theatre school in Essex. Following her role in Matilda, she was cast as Bella on the BBC1 soap opera EastEnders and played the role for several months.
It was her performance as Matilda, however, that brought her to the attention of the Maleficent filmmakers, who noted her resemblance to Angelina Jolie, who was playing the title role. After a series of auditions, Isobelle was cast as young Maleficent in the motion picture.
Currently, Isobelle is playing the role of Louisa in a production of The Sound of Music in Doha, Qatar.
