Gabriel Bateman has eight older siblings, most of whom also work in television and film.
Although he's most recognized for his recurring role as Ethan Taylor on the series Stalker (2014 - 2015), playing the son of Dylan McDermott’s and Maggie Q’s characters, he made his film debut in tbe 2012 indie film George Biddle, CPA.
His film career received a big boost when he was cast as Robert in Annabelle, produced by James Wan. He would go on to star in another horror film produced by Wan when he played Martin in Lights Out.
Producer Lawrence Grey described Gabriel's audition, saying, "We looked at probably thousands of actors and he was out ahead by a country mile." What clinched it was when he was asked to do a scene in which the director, David F. Sandberg, had taken his flashlight and he had to get it back. Grey said, "We did that with a bunch of kids and they generally took a kind of passive approach, but Gabriel would not stop beating the crap out of David to get that flashlight back! He had an incredible ferocity so we knew we could throw anything at him and he could come through like a champ.”
In 2016, Gabriel was added as a series regular to the cast of American Gothic, playing the role of Jack, the son of the two main leads. He has also appeared in two episodes of the new drama/horror series Outcast as well as playing a starring role as Wyatt McKenna on the Amazon Studios 2018 comedy The Dangerous Book for Boys.
Most recently, Gabriel added the horror production Child's Play (2019) to his filmography. This work marks the return of the famous murderous doll Chucky and also stars Aubrey Plaza and Mark Hamill.
