GABRIEL BASSO

Date of Birth: December 11, 1994

Gabriel Basso earned his very first role in the 2007 dramedy Meet Bill as an uncredited "kid with cancer," and has since compiled a large list of high-profile television and film credits to his name, including The Big C, Super 8 (2011), and The Whole Truth (2016).

Born in St. Louis, Missouri, Louis Gabriel Basso III, known as Gabriel, is the son of Marcia and Louis J. Basso. He has two sisters, Alexandria and Annalise, both of whom are also actresses. He and his siblings were homeschooled as children, as part of a devout Christian household.

Before he was bitten by the acting bug, Gabriel actually had aspirations of becoming a professional football player. However, his dream quickly shifted towards performing, and in early 2007, at just 12 years old, he landed two small roles: in the dramedy Meet Bill starring Aaron Eckhart and in the teen adaptation Alice Upside Down. Although he was still living in St. Louis at the time, he soon decided to move to Los Angeles with his mother and sisters.

Within his first week of being in Los Angeles, the budding actor found himself with an agent. He then began attending various casting calls, and in 2009, he was cast as a guest star on three television shows: Ghost Town, iCarly, and Eastwick. That same year, he also earned his first lead role in a feature film as Hal Mitchell in the family drama Alabama Moon.

After a few more guest spots, Gabriel landed the role that would make his career — in the critically acclaimed dramedy series The Big C. He played Adam Jamison, the son of star Laura Linney's Cathy Jamison. During his three seasons on The Big C, the young actor continued working in film and secured his second big role in the J.J. Abrams sci-fi fantasy flick Super 8 (2011). He then gained major critical attention for his starring role as Patrick in the teen dramedy The Kings of Summer (2013). Of the indie drama, which follows three boys during a summer in the woods, he said his rural Missouri upbringing helped inform the filming process, but said it was one of the hardest shoots he'd ever worked on.

After his string of breakout roles in both movies and television, Gabriel's profile skyrocketed and he landed four major motion pictures roles in one year. In 2015, he appeared in the action adventure Barely Lethal starring Jaime King and Samuel L. Jackson, the horror thriller The Hive, the drama Ithaca, directed by and starring Meg Ryan, and the coming-of-age drama Anatomy of the Tide. His busy schedule shows no sign of slowing down, as he was most recently seen in the crime drama The Whole Truth (2016) alongside Keanu Reeves and Renee Zellweger, as well as the sports drama American Wrestler: The Wizard (2016) with Jon Voight.
