Born: January 14, 1941
Date of Birth: January 14, 1941
Born in Bascom, Florida, Faye Dunaway was the daughter of a career army man which resulted in her traveling constantly in her early life. She attended Boston University and gave up a Fulbright Scholarship to the Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts in London to join the original training program at the Lincoln Center Repertory Theater in New York. She got her first starring role in "A Man For All Seasons" three years after graduating from college. She gained recognition in the off-Broadway play Hogan¹s Goat. Before the year's end she starred in Warren Beatty's Bonnie and Clyde which gained her the reputation of being difficult to work with, international recognition and an Academy Award nomination for Best Actress.
She proved her ability in acting was not temporary by delivering startling performances in A Place for Lovers, Chinatown and Network. Fay was one of the hottest actresses in the 1970s playing neurotic, highly driven women with sex appeal. She married Peter Wolf from the J. Geils Band in 1974 and divorced him five years later.
Faye's success couldn't last forever and in 1981 she had her last widely viewed role in the film Mommie Dearest. It was said that her role as Joan Crawford haunted her.
In 1980, she bore a son with Terry O'Neill, and in 1983 she married the father. They were divorced four years later.
Faye's reputation for dissension on the set took a new turn, in 1994, when she was fired just before the opening of an L.A. stage production of Sunset Boulevard. It could have been her comeback. When Andrew Lloyd Webber announced that her singing was not up to par, she sued for six million dollars: and lost.
Faye continues to work steadily, but mostly in small budget, independent films. She appeared in the 2002 dramedy The Rules of Attraction, had a recurring role on the popular nighttime ABC TV series Alias in 2003, and acted in a number of films in the late '00s, including Say It in Russian, Flick, and The Bait.
Her most recent projects include the Amazon series Hand of God and the horror film The Bye Bye Man (2017).
Faye has a Star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame at 7021 Hollywood Boulevard.
