Dominic Sessa was born in Cherry Hill, New Jersey. He attended Alder Avenue Middle School followed by Deerfield Academy, then the Carnegie Mellon School of Drama.
He started his passion for the arts at Deerfield Academy, where he was active in the school’s theater program. It was there that Dominic was discovered by Susan Shopmaker, a casting director who offered students there the opportunity to audition for The Holdovers (2023), since it was at the school that they would be filming. He auditioned and was selected for the starring role of Angus Tully opposite Paul Giamatti.
Dominic has been nominated for and won many awards for The Holdovers. He won the Pioneering Spirit: Rising Star Award at the 2023 Heartland International Film Festival, Best Newcomer Award at the 2023 North Texas Film Critics Association Awards, Best Young Performer for the 2024 Critics' Choice Awards, and Best Breakthrough Performance for the 2024 Independent Spirit Awards. He was also nominated for a BAFTA Film award for his work in the film.
