David Walton was born in Boston, Massachusetts and raised in Chestnut Hill as one of seven children. He developed an interest in acting while at St. Paul’s boarding school in New Hampshire. Pursuing a career in acting, David graduated from Brown University in 2001 with a degree in Theatre Arts and Performance Studies. He also trained at the British American Drama Academy in London and The Actors Centre in New York. He eventually settled in New York City, determined to become a professional actor.
His first major break came in 2002 when he starred in an off-Broadway production of One Day on Wall Street. Fortuitously, he met with Marcia Schulman, the Executive Vice President at FOX. After that meeting, David was cast in the TV series Cracking Up. He relocated to Los Angeles and has remained there since.
Following a series of small screen breakthroughs including Heist, Perfect Couples and New Girl, David landed the lead in the series, About a Boy, based on the novel by Nick Hornby. Despite his success on the small screen, David’s shows rarely last long. He states that he is very much ready for About a Boy to add some longevity to his career—after a successful first season, it was renewed for a second season.
David has also sporadically nabbed a few small roles in feature films, such as Burlesque (2010) starring Cher and Christina Aguilera and Think Like a Man Too (2014) with Gabrielle Union and Kevin Hart, but his TV career has been far more prolific and steady.
In 2011 David married actress Majandra Delfino in a lavish ceremony in Miami. One of the bridesmaids included Katherine Heigl, who starred with Majandra from 1999 to 2002 on the hit TV series Roswell. The couple has two children – a daughter Cecilia (born 2012) and son Louis (born 2013). ~Nadira Chand
