Dave Matthews Overview

Born in Johannesburg, South Africa, Dave Matthews moved to the United States at the age of 18 and began working as a bartender in a jazz club in Charlottesville, Virginia. He appeared in several plays in the area and in 1991 formed The Dave Matthews Band. They recorded their first independent album, "Remember Two Things," in 1993, and the record was certified gold.
