Darby Camp was born in Charlotte, North Carolina. As a toddler, she began appearing in locally filmed commercials and in print ads. She made her television debut on an episode of Drop Dead Diva, at the age of six.
After making more appearances on television in small roles, by age nine she was cast as Reese Witherspoon's daughter on the HBO mini-series Big Little Lies, which went on to win eight Emmy Awards, as well as an AFI Award in 2018 for Best TV Program of the Year.
Before reprising the role in 2019 for a second season, she starred alongside Kurt Russell as Kate, a young girl who goes on an adventure with Santa in the Netflix film The Christmas Chronicles (2018).
Since then, Darby reprised her role as Kate in the sequel, The Christmas Chronicles: Part Two (2020) and played Julia Roberts' daughter on the Starz! political series Gaslit (2021), about the Watergate scandal in the 1970s.
Most recently, she played Emily Elizabeth in the motion picture Clifford the Big Red Dog (2021), starring opposite Jack Whitehall.
Darby's mother, Lacy Camp, is also a busy actress, and Darby's older sister Ruthie Camp has tried acting, but didn't enjoy the experience. Along with Darby's father Clark Camp, they still make their home in North Carolina, with their two dogs.
