Danny Ramirez Biography

Danny Ramirez was born in Chicago, Illinois. He is of Colombian and Mexican descent. Growing up, Danny had dreams of being a professional soccer player, and ended up playing the sport at college in Atlanta. After an injury left him on the sidelines, a PA from the film The Reluctant Fundamentalist (2012), starring Riz Ahmed, Kate Hudson and Liev Schreiber, was asking around the school for extras.

While watching Ahmed work, Danny was exposed to the world of acting and he immediately realized it was something he wanted to pursue.

Danny made his acting debut in 2015 on the Showtime series The Affair, followed by a guest appearance on NBC’s Blindspot, while attending New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts.

In 2017, he played a recurring role as Wes on three episodes of Fox’s The Gifted. His feature film debut was in Assassination Nation (2018) alongside the likes of Colman Domingo, Bill Skarsgård, and Kelvin Harrison Jr.

The following year he appeared in a trio of films. He appeared in Lost Transmissions (2019) with Simon Pegg, Juno Temple, and Alexandra Daddario, The Giant (2019) with Madelyn Cline, and Silo (2019).

In 2021, he joined the Marvel Universe on the Disney+ series The Falcon and the Winter Soldier as Joaquin Torres, who takes on the mantle of Falcon. He appeared in five episodes alongside Anthony Mackie and Sebastian Stan. The role was something Danny had been preparing for a long time as he cosplayed the character as a child and tried to fly off the second story of his grandmother’s house in Mexico.

The following year he played Lt. Mickey “Fanboy” Garcia in the blockbuster film Top Gun: Maverick (2022) with Tom Cruise.

Danny was set to star alongside Joaquin Phoenix in Todd Haynes’ untitled gay romance film, but Phoenix dropped out before filming started.

In 2025, he reprised his role as Joaquin Torres on the big screen in Captain America: Brave New World. The film received mixed reviews, but Danny’s performance was commended, as was his chemistry with Anthony Mackie.

He is next set to appear as Manny on the second season of the HBO award-winning series The Last of Us.
