Born in British Columbia, Canada, half-Norwegian, half-Canadian actor Christopher Heyerdahl is best known for playing Volturi leader Marcus in the Twilight Saga feature film series. He has also played roles in a number of popular television series, including Dieter Braun in True Blood, Zor-El in the sci-fi series Smallville; Leonid in the Are You Afraid of the Dark episode “The Thirteenth Floor” and as Nosferatu in the episode “Midnight Madness.” Other TV shows include Supernatural, Caprica, Human Target, Stargate Atlantis, and Steven Spielberg’s Emmy and Golden Globe-winning miniseries Into the West.
In 2006, Christopher won a Leo Award for Best Guest Performance by a Male in a Dramatic Series for his role as Jan Van Der Heyden in The Collector. In 2010, he won another Leo Award for Best Supporting Performance by a Male in a Dramatic Series and also a Gemini Award nomination for Best Performance by an Actor in a Guest Role in a Dramatic Series for Sanctuary.
From 2011 - 2016, Christopher co-starred on AMC’s hit series Hell on Wheels, which debuted as the second highest rated original series in AMC history. He also reprised his role as the villainous vampire Marcus in the final installment of the Twilight series, The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 1 (2012).
Most recently, he acted alongside Mark Strong, Ethan Hawke and Noomi Rapace, in the film Stockholm (2018), directed by Robert Budreau.
Christopher is also a gifted hockey player, having played for the Ottawa Senators.
