British by birth, Christian Charles started his career in 1989 in London, with advertising agency Ogilvy and Mather. While there, he wrote and art directed TV commercials with some of Britain's most noted commercial directors. In 1993, Charles transferred to Ogilvy's New York office, where he continued to work on television advertising campaigns for high profile clients such as Pepsi and Lucas Films. He also co-developed the award-winning American Express ad campaign featuring Jerry Seinfeld. He won several awards for his work in commercials, including the prestigious Cannes Bronze Lion. His first short film, Close to the Wind, impressed Jerry Seinfeld and helped pave the way to his feature film directorial debut, Comedian (2002), starring Seinfeld. Because of his expertise in advertising, Charles decided to direct not only the film's trailer and the commercial spots, but he developed the film's multi-media ad campaign as well. Hoping to continue in the film industry, Charles co-founded Bridgnorth Films, along with Gary Streiner. He also continues to work on advertising campaigns, including the most recent one for American Express, again featuring Jerry Seinfeld.
