As the youngest of five children it might be hard to gain the spotlight, unless of course your name is Charlie Cox. Although he was born in London, England, Cox spent most of his youth growing up in East Sussex, where he attended and started training as an actor at Sherborne School, which also housed the company and talents of other such noted actors as James Purefoy and Jeremy Irons. Cox also trained at Bristol Old Vic Theatre School. While at Sherborne, Cox performed in many plays such as Patrick Marber's Dealers Choice as Mugsy, and Henry V as Nym and John Bates.
Cox's career got a jump start when he landed the role of Theo in the 2003 hit Dot the I (2003) opposite Gael García Bernal. Cox has also appeared on the hit BBC television series Judge John Deed, after which film became his bread and butter, taking in as much as he could. In 2007 Cox embarked on a journey to catch a fallen star in the adaptation the the graphic novel of the same name, Stardust, as a local villager trying to win the affection of his "true love."
In Stone of Destiny (2009), Cox played Ian Hamilton, who brought back Scottish pride with his dedication to his country. Cox also appears in the British period piece 1939, which takes place during the Second World War, when the secret recordings of the anti-appeasement movement were discovered. Although he is always keeping busy with new projects Cox always has an open spot at his side for his four-legged companion Dickon. More recently, he starred in The Theory of Everything (2014). He also landed the lead role as Matt Murdock on the Netflix series Marvel's Daredevil (2015).
