Born in Houston, Texas as Peter Brett Cullen to Catherine and Lucien Hugh Cullen, Brett graduated from Houston's Madison High School in 1974. For university, he didn't stray far from his home net, attending the University of Houston. While there, he met and befriended fellow actor Dennis Quaid. The two remain friends.
