Brad Peyton
Date of Birth: May 27, 1978
Brad Peyton was born in Gander, Newfoundland and Labrador and first garnered Hollywood attention with his gothic comedy short, Evelyn: The Cutest Evil Dead Girl in 2002.
After putting out several other short films, most with a dark feel to them, Brad decided to tackle his first full-length feature by hopping in the director's chair for Cats & Dogs: The Revenge of Kitty Galore, the sequel to the 2001 animated hit Cats & Dogs, which took in more than US$200 million worldwide. The film combined live animals with computer-generated images and featured several different voice overs, a big investment for the director, who spent two years putting it together. But for Brad, it was worth it. "I know from the outside it may seem odd, considering if you know my past work, to do this," he once said in an interview. "But when you're offered an opportunity like this, where you know you're going to learn a lot and see all these various aspects of filmmaking and work with the people you work with, you take it. It's such a big opportunity, even if it's outside your normal tonal range."
In 2012, Brad took on another popular sequel, this time the 2008 action-adventure film Journey to the Center of the Earth. His new installment, Journey 2: The Mysterious Island starred Josh Hutcherson, Dwayne Johnson, Vanessa Hudgens, and Michael Caine.
More recently, Brad worked with Dwayne Johnson again when he directed the action epic San Andreas (2015), and again on the action/adventure Rampage (2018). He also directed the horror thriller Incarnate (2016), starring Aaron Eckhart.
