Ariana Grande was born Ariana Grande-Butera in Boca Raton, Florida to Joan Grande and Edward Butera. She attended Pine Crest School and North Broward Preparatory school while participating in musicals through the Fort Lauderdale Children's Theatre. It was there that she played her first role as Annie at the age of eight in the musical of the same name, Annie (1977).

When Ariana was 13 years old, she started seriously pursuing her music career while also focusing on the theatre. In 2008, she played in her first Broadway musical, 13, as Charlotte the cheerleader and in 2009, was cast in the Nickelodeon television show Victorious (2010) as Cat Valentine. She also starred in the Nickelodeon show Sam & Cat (2013) playing the same character.

Ariana’s music career began with the soundtrack album Music from Victorious (2011) and she released her first studio album in 2013 called Yours Truly (2013) after signing with Republic Records in 2011. The lead single on the album titled "The Way" charted the top ten US Billboard Hot 100. Her second studio album, My Everything (2014), debuted at number one on the Billboard 200, and her lead single peaked at the second spot on the Billboard Hot 100. This album also launched her first world tour in 2015 to promote it.

She has released seven studio albums altogether, with the most recent being Eternal Sunshine (2024). Ariana has also embarked on four concert tours with three of them being worldwide.

She made her movie debut in the role of Glinda in the film adaptation of the Broadway musical Wicked (2024), which will be shown in two parts, the first to be released on November 27, 2024. For the first movie, she received an Academy Award nomination in the Supporting Actress category, as well as nominations from the BAFTAs, Golden Globes and the Critics Choice awards.

Ariana has a passion for philanthropy, which started with co-founding a youth singing group called Kids Who Care in South Florida. This charitable choir raised over $500,000. She has continued this passion throughout her entire career with most recently launching a fund for transgender youth, matching donations given up to $1.5 million on International Transgender Day of Visibility.

Some of Ariana’s notable relationships include Mac Miller, Pete Davidson, and Dalton Gomez, whom she married in 2021. Currently, she is dating her married Wicked(2024) co-star, Ethan Slater. She divorced Gomez in 2024.
