Born: February 10, 1995
Born in Lambeth, England, Archie Madekwe found success in the industry at a quick pace. He started studying theater at the BRIT School and later joined the National Youth Theater. He went on to continue his studies at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art, but dropped out after being cast in the stage play The Goat, or Who Is Sylvia? as Billy.
Archie's television debut came in 2014, with a guest appearance on the BBC show Casualty. He appeared in shows such as Fresh Meat, Informer, and more, between 2017 to 2019 as a guest. Only having appeared in small roles, his stroke of luck came in 2019.
He was cast in the role of Simon in the A24 thriller Midsommar (2019), and later that year appeared as Kofun on the Apple TV+ show See. As the star of the show, Archie was in the series from 2019 to 2022. From there his career took off.
In 2021 he was cast as the voice of Sedgwick on the animated Netflix show Love, Death & Robots in the episode "Ice," which won two Primetime Emmys for Outstanding Individual Achievement In Animation and Outstanding Short Form Animated Program. He also appeared as Kai in the feature film Voyagers (2021) alongside Lily-Rose Depp and Colin Farrell.
Archie landed the lead role of Jann Mardenborough in Gran Turismo (2023) — as a teenage Gran Turismo player whose gaming skills earned him a spot in a Nissan trial to find someone who could become a real race car driver. He also appears in the Netflix film Heart of Stone (2023) as Ivo.
Along with his love for acting and theater, Archie is an artist in other aspects. With natural talents in drawing, painting and photography, he explores his artistic abilities often, showcasing his art through Instagram and in interviews. He enjoys portraits, often creating pieces with no subjects but deep meaning.
Archie is set to appear in the film Saltburn (2023) as Farleigh.
