Born in Bangkok to an Indian father and a German mother, Anand Tucker grew up in Hong Kong and moved to England at 18. After graduating from London's Harrow Film School, he won a place on the BBC's Production Trainee Program. He made his directing debut with the hit series The Late Show before leaving in 1992 to join the Oxford Films and Television Company.
