Interview with Pilot Gregory C. Johnson (Hubble 3D)
Through the power of IMAX 3D, Hubble 3D will enable moviegoers to journey through distant galaxies to explore the mysteries of our celestial surroundings, and accompany space-walking astronauts as they attempt the most difficult and important tasks in NASA's history. The film offers an inspiring and unique look into the Hubble Space Telescope's legacy and highlights its profound impact on the way we view the universe and ourselves. Narrated by Leonardo DiCaprio, Hubble 3D is produced and directed by Toni Myers.
Last May, astronaut Gregory Johnson made his inaugural space flight on board the Shuttle Atlantis. As if there wasn't enough pressure on him to fly to space and assist in the repair of the Hubble telescope, he was making history by being one of the astronauts chosen to help film and document the mission for Hubble 3D.
Tribute's Bonnie Laufer had the exclusive opportunity to chat with Johnson in Washington D.C. about his specific duties aboard the shuttle, what it means to be an astronaut and what it was like to be a part of this extraordinary movie.
