Born to be Wild 3D is a must-see IMAX film that documents orphaned orangutans and elephants and the extraordinary people who rescue and raise them—saving endangered species one life at a time.
Featured in the film is Dr. Dame Daphne Sheldrick, the widow of David Sheldrick, an internationally renowned conservationist and one of the world's leading authorities on African wildlife, as well as the Founder Warden of Tsavo East National Park in Kenya. After his death in 1977, Dame Daphne was given permission by the government to continue her work with orphaned wild animals, in particular wild elelphants. The David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust was established in l977, and the small house she built within the Nairobi National Park has evolved into its headquarters.
Tribute's Bonnie Laufer spoke with Dr. Sheldrick in Los Angeles about her amazing work with wild elephants, its potential dangers and how she hopes this film will help with her cause.
