Dr. Biruté Mary Galdikas - Born to be Wild 3D Interview

Born to be Wild 3D is a must-see IMAX film that documents orphaned orangutans and elephants and the extraordinary people who rescue and raise them—saving endangered species one life at a time.

Dr. Biruté Mary Galdikas, President of the Orangutan Foundation International, takes the cameras behind the scenes and shows us how she tirelessly has been saving orphaned orangutans for decades. She is considered a “Trimate,” one of the three most prominent researchers on primates (along with Jane Goodall and Dian Fossey), conducting one of the longest continual field studies of a single species of animal in history. Currently a professor at Simon Fraser University in Burnaby, British Columbia and Professor Extraordinaire at Universitas Nasional in Jakarta, Indonesia, Dr. Galdikas received her doctorate in anthropology from UCLA in 1978.

Tribute's Bonnie Laufer spoke with Dr. Galdikas about her amazing work, how a nice gal from Toronto wound up in the Borneo rainforests and how she hopes this film will help her efforts to save the orangutans.
