Djimon Hounsou Interview - King Arthur: Legend of the Sword

Djimon Hounsou, who plays the role of Bedivere in King Arthur: Legend of the Sword, talks about his first experience with the legend of King Arthur, as well as the connection he finds in the story to a king he knew of in his home country of Africa. He goes on to reveal why the story is so relatable. Djimon then talks about the overarching themes of the film, which include: camaraderie, diversity, devotion, as well as the idea of one accepting one’s destiny. He discusses how talented and organic a director Guy Ritchie is. Djimon then comments on the enormity and detail of the film’s many sets and mentions how his background as a boxer and mixed martial artist helped him to quickly pick up the physicality of the role. Finally, he says he hopes the audience takes away from the film the importance of loyalty.
