Amy Adams discusses her character in her latest film Arrival. She plays Dr. Louise Banks, a linguist and professor, who's "called upon by the United States government to help decipher an alien language as there have been 12 ships that have arrived on the planet." She chats about her preparation for the role, which involved meeting with a linguist and learning about the profession, and admits that she doesn't think she'd make a very good linguist. Amy also describes the process by which her character understands the communication methods of the aliens in Arrival and how her and director Denis Villeneuve connected about the telling of the story.
